Live demoCase study

01 — Overview

CampusConnect is a campus event management experience built in 72 hours for Aptech Techwiz 2026. The team placed 4th among roughly 120 teams. The app lets students discover events, filter by category and date, and view event detail pages with shareable metadata.

02 — My contribution

I led frontend delivery for a six-developer team: defined the component structure, implemented event listing and filtering, detail views, responsive layouts, SEO metadata, and Framer Motion transitions. I coordinated API integration points with teammates handling data and deployment.

03 — Technical architecture

Next.js 15 with the App Router, React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS 4, and Zustand for lightweight client state. Pages are composed from reusable event cards, filter chips, and a layout shell. Server components handle metadata; interactive views hydrate on the client. The production demo is hosted on Vercel.

04 — Engineering challenges

  • Extreme time constraint: we prioritized a thin vertical slice — browse, filter, detail — over admin tooling, and kept state in Zustand instead of heavier global patterns.
  • Consistent UI under pressure: I extracted shared card and badge primitives early so five other contributors could ship screens without one-off CSS.
  • SEO for hackathon judging: per-route `metadata` exports and Open Graph tags so shared links rendered meaningful previews.

05 — Testing and quality

Cross-browser smoke tests on Chrome and Safari mobile during the event. Keyboard-accessible filters and visible focus on primary actions. We did not ship a full automated test suite in the hackathon window; regression risk was mitigated by keeping components small and typed.

06 — Results and lessons

Delivered a production-ready demo and 4th place at Techwiz 2026. Dashboard metrics shown on the live demo (event counts, participation figures, success rates) are illustrative sample data for presentation, not measurements from a deployed production campus. The repository for the hackathon codebase is not public; the live demo and this case study document my frontend contribution.
